Project Description
Dance Global was designed by Global Music Selector, DJ Mayeva, to promote exercise, fun and cross-cultural learning.
She recruited a variety of professional choreographers from the diverse dance communities of Greater Manchester to teach simple routines to some of the most popular party tracks from around the world. The workshops, aimed at community dancers of all ages, levels and cultural backgrounds, ran in a series of 10 weekly sessions. Participants ranged from ages two to 97!! All our tutors are great fun and very supportive.
The programme was initially funded by Sports England through the Get Oldham Moving scheme. It then took up a new persona, as Dance Global Kids, thanks to further funding from Arts Council England.
Our most recent project, Dance Global: The Flash Mob consisted of a series of four half day workshops aimed at community dance leaders.
