Project Description
Sounds of the Sirens was an exciting female-led songwriting project funded by Arts Council England in 2020. The concept was simple: three female songwriters at varying stages of their career, wrote and arranged two songs each and then chose musicians from Lingua Franca World Community Performers to produce the final songs for video. Each woman could select mentors from our collective to help them in their journey.
The resulting songs by Geli Berg, Tiki Black and Sarah Sayeed were rehearsed, performed and recorded at Hope Mill Studios in Ancoats, Manchester.
The songs were:
Tangled in Dreadlocks (Geli Berg)
That Day That You Left (Geli Berg)
Home (Tiki Black)
The King’s Crumbs (Tiki Black)
Endless Conversation (Sarah Sayeed)
The Forgotten (Sarah Sayeed)
Four of the songs are now on YouTube and a fifth has now been rearranged and appears on Tiki Black’s latest album The Sound of the Broken Wand.
